Getting older is a natural part of your dog’s life, but it doesn’t mean they have to slow down unnecessarily. Regular check-ups can help us identify changes early and support your dog through their senior years.
Senior dogs benefit from regular monitoring of:
Regular health checks can help identify age-related conditions before they become more difficult to manage. Our preventative care program includes blood testing, and our clinic has in-house pathology facilities.
Our Pet Healthcare Plan is designed to help you stay on top of your pet’s regular preventative care.
It includes routine consultations, annual vaccinations and an annual diagnostic wellness screen, including blood testing and urinalysis. Members can also receive discounts on selected procedures, including dental and surgical procedures.
Ask our team whether the Healthcare Plan is right for your senior dog.
One of the most common changes we see as dogs age is reduced mobility. Slowing down, difficulty getting up, reluctance to use stairs or changes in how your dog walks can all be worth discussing with your vet.
Read our Arthritis in Pets information for more about what to look for and how we can help.
As pets get older, it can sometimes be difficult to know whether changes are simply part of ageing or whether they indicate a problem.
Our Quality of Life Resource can help you think about your dog’s comfort and wellbeing and provide a starting point for discussion with your vet.
Have you noticed a change in your dog’s behaviour, mobility or routine? Give us a call. A conversation with our team can help you decide whether it’s time for a senior health check.
